This can involve vacuuming of droppings, insulation replacement, and fogging the attic with enzyme cleaner. Trapping and removal of a bat in Texas can be tricky and should never be attempted if the bat was found in a room where people were sleeping. If the bat gets into your home during the nighttime then the best thing you can do is to shut off the room that you believe that it is in and wait till the day. While at your property, Cypress bat control will identify the entry points bats are using to access your home and make recommendations to exclude them permanently. In some instances the primary entrance/exit holes are the only access points available, and basic repairs and an exclusion may be sufficient, while others require a week or more just to perform the complete bat-proofing process. Nuisance bats suspected of having rabies should always be left for professionals to remove.

HOW DO I GET RID OF BATS FROM AN ATTIC? Bat removal is not a simple task. I've researched this for many years. There is no effective bat repellent for example that can do the job easily. The proper way to get rid of them is to exclude the colony – seal off 100% of possible secondary entry points on the home and remove all of the bats from the building safely.  This protects you from getting sick from anything from the creature. It is often very challenging, and it must be done just the right way. An amateur attempt, by someone with no experience, or worse, a pest control company that uses bat poison, could result in disaster – dead, rotting bats, and bats swarming throughout the walls and the home. I myself trained for two years with a bat removal expert before I started my own bat removal jobs, and even then, I had a lot to learn.

Bats hibernating in homes may move down between the walls in the winter, and sometimes scratching or squeaking sounds will be heard when they are moving around or disrupted. Interesting fact: the bats in your attic are actually all females! They are called a maternity colony, and they are in your attic in order to have a safe place to give birth to and raise their young. Any attempt to trap or kill the bats will only result in a failed job and frustration, (not to mention it's illegal to attempt), so never attempt anything but a proper live exclusion during the non-maternity season. We have a single-man lift with a 24-foot platform height which can be used outside or inside buildings. There are no vampire bats in the United States, although they can be found in South America and there are a few in Central America. They emit high-pitched chirps and read the sonar-like returns of the sound waves as they bounce back off of objects. These creatures not only fly well, but because of how small they are they know how to burrow into areas or find places that allow them to be nearly invisible. These bats are small, with a wingspan of 8 inches, and a weight of less than half an ounce. One of the easiest ways to tell if you have bats is hearing their scraping, rustling or squeaking. Holes along TV cables, water pipes, and cracks in drywall or gaps in ceiling tiles are all possible entrance points. Tightly bag and seal this waste and toss.

Read about bat prevention here. Quite the contrary, as less than 1% ever contract rabies, and it is highly unusual for a bat to contact a person, through a sick bat may have no fear of a human or other animals. Often you will see them head toward a section of the house and even disappear. Not all at once, and they make several trips in and out per night. The piles of urine and feces can contaminate insulation, rot wood and ruin ceilings. This means that during the daylight hours it will do what it can to avoid any place in your home where the light is shining. Roosting preference depends on the species and even gender of the bats, but we are only concerned with colonizing bats such as the three mentioned above. This time period also happens to be the time when we receive most bat calls, due to a couple factors. First make sure to keep safety in mind. I wear a biohazard suit and rubber gloves, but most importantly, a HEPA air filter mask. Above are some photos I've taken at various bat jobs.

Excluding the mother bats during that period would create a problem even worse than having the bats in your attic, as the young bats would die without their mother to feed and care for them. However, if you've got a typical maternity colony of bats in your home or building, it can be a big problem. However, they are not out in the open. When they can they will choose hollow trees, caves and similar areas for shelters. A fully infested bat attic is one of the biggest and most challenging problems in the field of problem wildlife removal. You're still reading this? If a bat is found in your home and you are not able to contact a wildlife control operator, always wear thick leather gloves and use a net, towel, plastic container, or other method for capturing. The incubation period is highly variable in animals and people.
