Bat Trapping and Removal Companies in Richmond

Like any other wild animal, bats should never be handled at any time, especially when found on the ground or in a home. Trapping and removal of a bat in Texas can be tricky and should never be attempted if the bat was found in a room where people were sleeping. A light mist of an enzyme-based microbial solvent will help keep the fungal spores from going airborne. While at your property, Richmond bat control will identify the entry points bats are using to access your home and make recommendations to exclude them permanently. You're still reading this? HOW DO I GET RID OF BATS FROM AN ATTIC? Bat removal is not a simple task. You can't do an exclusion while the young are flightless, because they'll all either die or crawl down the walls of your house and many will find a way inside your rooms. There is no effective bat repellent for example that can do the job easily. The proper way to get rid of them is to exclude the colony – seal off 100% of possible secondary entry points on the home and remove all of the bats from the building safely.  While poison can be very effective in getting rid of any bats in your home that actually eat the poison (bats feed off live insects so nibbling on a block of poison is unlikely) it is one of the worst choices. It is often very challenging, and it must be done just the right way. An amateur attempt, by someone with no experience, or worse, a pest control company that uses bat poison, could result in disaster – dead, rotting bats, and bats swarming throughout the walls and the home. You can guess how pleasant that becomes after a week or so.

Each bat can poop 20 pellets per day, and if you multiply that number times hundreds of bats over a couple of years, you get an attic full of bat guano! It smells bad, it corrodes wood and drywall, and it can grow mold. Understanding basic bat behavior helps us realize what causes them to enter the living quarters of our homes. I wear a biohazard suit and rubber gloves, but most importantly, a HEPA air filter mask. The females form huge clusters, very frequently in man-made architecture such as church towers, attics, bridges, etc. But the attic of a home will do quite nicely. This leaves no way for them to easily get out and will end up causing these important little creatures to die in your attic. If you want to attract bats to your property and offer them shelter, then by all means do so. This is the final step in the exclusion process. The other commonly found bat is the Little Brown Bat. Bats are not rodents, and have little in common with mice or rats. Otherwise, they migrate and return each spring.

NUISANCE CONCERNS: The primary concern involves large colonies. You can also get this in a fogger or mister and it’s a good idea to use a cleaner like this as well. BAT BIOLOGY: North America is home to many species of bats, but these are the three most common nuisance (colonizing) species in the US: First is the Little Brown Bat (Myotis lucifugus) which is common in most of the US, especially the more northward states. None of the bats are killed in the process. However, it is important to note that many states have laws or regulations that address bat control and which provide specific requirements and protections for these animals. Brown or grey streaks can be left near soffits, the roof and chimneys and are prime indicators of a bat colony. They hibernate from late fall (Oct/Nov) until spring arrives (Mar/Apr). Generally bats are going to enter a home near the roof or attic. The bulk of the droppings can be shoveled out into plastic garbage bags, then loose droppings can be vacuumed up with an industrial vacuum with filter. A bat that is out in the daylight, not active or easy to catch can be sick and quite easily with rabies. You're still reading this? • How do you repel bats?

They are generally harmless animals, they don't chew on wires like rodents do, but the main problem they cause is that they poop and pee a lot. When this happens it can be a natural reaction to try chasing the animal out with a racket or a broom. It is most common for us to perform observations in the summer months during the time period when exclusions should not be performed. The biggest problem that comes with bats is the guano. For example, many raccoons are rabid, but they don't pass the rabies on to humans. In this group females give birth to one pup and take care of it until it can fly and fend for itself which takes several months. Never seal your home without performing an exclusion! This is done on a fairly clear night, as rainy and windy conditions are not favorable for bats to locate flying insects. I have seen MANY people install a bat house in their yard thinking the bats will move from their attic into the bat house. This unit is great for working on long outside walls or other projects such as installing bird netting in loading docks, parking garages, or other canopy-type structures. Not only do the droppings and urine corrode wood/metal, but the weight of them can collapse the ceiling below the attic - I've seen if a few times.
