Bat Trapping and Removal Companies in Bellaire

Rapidly rising gas costs have made it impossible to provide free estimates. Trapping and removal of a bat in Texas can be tricky and should never be attempted if the bat was found in a room where people were sleeping. Finally, in almost every state in America there are laws against poisoning these very beneficial animals. While at your property, Bellaire bat control will identify the entry points bats are using to access your home and make recommendations to exclude them permanently. Roosting preference depends on the species and even gender of the bats, but we are only concerned with colonizing bats such as the three mentioned above. Nuisance bats suspected of having rabies should always be left for professionals to remove.

HOW DO I GET RID OF BATS FROM AN ATTIC? Bat removal is not a simple task. These devices can be placed over the entry and when the bats emerge, they cannot return back to the colony. There is no effective bat repellent for example that can do the job easily. The proper way to get rid of them is to exclude the colony – seal off 100% of possible secondary entry points on the home and remove all of the bats from the building safely.  They are all insectivorous, catching insects on the wing. It is often very challenging, and it must be done just the right way. An amateur attempt, by someone with no experience, or worse, a pest control company that uses bat poison, could result in disaster – dead, rotting bats, and bats swarming throughout the walls and the home. They are able to locate very small openings into homes and buildings, and it seems churches are one of their favorites.

Maternal colonies choose caves to deliver their young because they want shelter and safety from predators. This would occur when a bat is picked up or otherwise mistakenly contacted. The bulk of the droppings can be shoveled out into plastic garbage bags, then loose droppings can be vacuumed up with an industrial vacuum with filter. Note: Installing a bat house is NOT going to solve a bat problem in your home. Their echolocation system enables them to locate a tiny insect flying in total darkness. These bats will form huge colonies, up to several million members in some cases. This allows us to determine what equipment would be necessary for an exclusion and repair program. We will prepare and send (e-mail, fax, or mail) a price quote for the exclusion program, which will include a detailed summary of the entire process. Working in the wildlife control business has allowed me to see this first hand. When this happens it can be a natural reaction to try chasing the animal out with a racket or a broom. If the spray can’t be found then a disinfectant or in a ‘worse-case’ scenario- you can use water for keeping dust and bacteria from travelling into the air so easily.

In truth, none of these repellents will help rid your attic of a bat colony. Though less than 1% of bats carry the rabies virus and transmit it, it is difficult to say if a colony of bats that is residing in the house has it or not. Contrary to most bat research, Little Browns will also hibernate in structures. Very similar to the Mexican free-tail, the Little Brown Bat is also nocturnal, hibernates and feeds on large amounts of insects. This is why you need to make your search in places where it could be in the dark as the sun shines into your living room, bedroom, or attic. Releasing them usually sends them right back to your home and trapping is difficult and dangerous for the person and the bat. Holes along TV cables, water pipes, and cracks in drywall or gaps in ceiling tiles are all possible entrance points. They consume a tremendous number of night flying insects every night during the spring, summer, and fall seasons. However, they are not out in the open. The best way to do this is to use a specially made enzyme-based microbial cleaner that can eliminate organic material. Bats do not chew their way into structures! They only use gaps and holes that already exist, and locate them by sensing air currents and temperature.

How to Get Rid of Bats in the Attic: The process is definitely not simple. Can't I just seal the entry holes shut at night when the bats are out? Bat houses do not increase the chance of having bats in your home. This is done on a fairly clear night, as rainy and windy conditions are not favorable for bats to locate flying insects. It is totally optional, but we often suggest installing a bat house near the site where they are currently roosting. In the US, this really only means a few significant species, most commonly the Big Brown Bat and in larger numbers, the Little Brown Bat in the northern states, and in the southern states, you'll find Evening Bats, but most commonly the Brazilian, aka Mexican Free Tailed Bat. They are generally harmless animals, they don't chew on wires like rodents do, but the main problem they cause is that they poop and pee a lot. They hibernate from late fall (Oct/Nov) until spring arrives (Mar/Apr). Above are some photos I've taken at various bat jobs. Bats are not rodents, and have little in common with mice or rats. Bats live a very long time, and they stay in the same place year-round, conditions permitting, or they migrate and return each summer.
