On many structures we will perform much of the sealing and repairs (secondary gaps and holes) before the exclusion season begins. If there is a bat colony in the attic, it is best to exclude the bats from returning. The problems associated with a large number of dead animals in a structure can be serious, so waiting until the young bats can fly is the sensible method. But because they can enter via dozens of other non-primary, you want to seal off potential entry holes beforehand, so that excluded bats don't find an alternate way in. This is a process that is not only filthy, it can be downright dangerous. This leaves no way for them to easily get out and will end up causing these important little creatures to die in your attic. It is very common for bats to find their way into the living quarters of homes, usually during warmer summer temperatures when we use our air conditioning.
